To overcome various mental health disorders, brain wave therapy is believed to be able to have a positive effect. The brain is the organ that regulates a person's thoughts, and the brain also controls the behavior, emotions, movements, and sensations in the body. Given its very important role, of course brain health must be maintained.
The brain consists of several parts with different functions. And your brain consists of billions of nerve cells or neurons that use electricity as a way to communicate with each other.
Five Types of Brain Waves
Brain waves are divided into five different parts, which are believed to create the spectrum of the level of human consciousness. Our brain waves change throughout the day which can be influenced by what we do, think, and also feel emotionally at certain times, even during sleep. The following explanation is related to five types of brain waves that exist:Delta waves
Delta waves are the slowest brain waves and occur when you fall asleep. This wave is very low, which is around 3 to 5 Hz. Delta waves are very prominent when you sleep or during meditation. These waves are thought to play a role in the healing process and improve sleep quality. Injury to the brain can cause abundant delta waves that can make you often sleepy. Having too much delta wave activity can also cause attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or (ADHD).
Theta wave
Theta waves also occur during sleep and during meditation. This wave range is around 3 to 8 Hz. Theta waves are strongly related to memory and space navigation, but the effect of these waves on the workings of the brain in general is not yet clearly known.
Alpha wave
Alpha waves are present when you are daydreaming or meditating. This wave is around 8 to 12 Hz. Doing aerobic exercise is believed to produce alpha waves.
Beta wave
This wave is around 12 to 30 Hz. Usually beta waves dominate the normal conscious state and in the process of thinking or while doing something. This wave activity is fast, which is present when we feel alert, focused, attentive, and involved in problem solving or decision making.
Gamma waves
These waves are around 25 to 100 Hz, but usually are at 40 Hz. Gamma waves are waves associated with the simultaneous processing of information from various areas of the brain and are associated with higher levels of awareness.
